1- CREATION

The National School of Veterinary Medicine (ENMV) was established in 1974 (by the decree-law of October 24, 1974, ratified by law 74-95 of December 11, 1974).
The first academic year 1974-1975 took place at the National Agronomic Institute of Tunis (INAT).
From September 1975, the ENMV moved to the former premises of an agricultural training center, located in the Delegation of Sidi Thabet (Ariana Governorate).
The expansion with new buildings began in the 1980s.
The National School of Veterinary Medicine in Tunisia, located in Sidi Thabet, is a prestigious institution dedicated to the advanced education of veterinary medicine. Established on December 25, 1974, it remains the only veterinary school in the country and is affiliated with the University of La Manouba. The school's mission is to train veterinary doctors through a comprehensive six-year program, which includes a preparatory year, two years of basic veterinary education, two years of advanced veterinary studies, and a final year of internship. Students who successfully defend their doctoral thesis are awarded the degree of Doctor of Veterinary Medicine. The institution is structured into three main departments: Clinical Sciences, Animal Production, and Fundamental Sciences, each offering specialized courses ranging from animal surgery to food hygiene, and from biochemistry to animal nutrition. The curriculum is designed to cover all aspects of veterinary medicine, ensuring graduates are well-equipped to contribute to animal health, food safety, and public health.
